WHATS WRONG?
Answer:
Reinstall the video driver.
Note: Make sure the driver is up to date. It may require an updated driver to work with XP
It sounds resembling you do not have the correct drivers for your specific monitor type / video card type. Check your hardware profile and see if you are a using a "Generic VGA adapter" Or Generic monitor dub of some sort. If that's the case, try inquiring online for your specific monitor drivers / video card drivers, and then install them.
XP may not own loaded the appropriate video driver for your graphics adapter. Go back to Display settings and see if you own higher than 640X480 or 8000X600 resolution and a color element of at least 16 bits. If not, you requirement to upgrade your driver. Windows Update is probably the easiest way to do it.
Launch Windows Update (Start/Programs/Windows Update) and choose Custom Updates (You may stipulation to let Windows Update update itself first). Choose Hardware Updates and see if Update have a more updated driver available. If not, I would suggest going to your computer maker's support site to see what XP video drivers they have for your model.
It's simple Buddy, when ur computer starts, thump F8 key to enter the Windows XP startup menu, select "Enable VGA Mode" and press enter. u won't see that square again. its a problem of display resolution, u entail 640x480 for ur monitor.
