watching tv programs from the internet on innertube or from the exchange cards sites?

i've read that watching tv shows on my computer LCD blind is better than watching them on my regular tv because the LCD has more lines of resolution. but when i keep watch on shows from CBS on innertube my picture is really pixelated. what is causing this? i thought the picture on an LCD be supposed to be so much better. i have my reolutionset to 1024 x 728. why does the picture not look crisp and clear?

Answer:

the resolution your monitor is set at have nothing to do near the resolution of the incoming video. It is true that high level videos such as big .avi and DVD's will look better on your monitor because they have more pixels. To see CBS to allow you to watch streaming video on string they have to shrink the size of the video significantly. If you are downloading a 42 minute episode at an average of 40 KB/s. 40KB/sx60sec/minx42min=100 800 KB. This size profile only allows for a resolution of around 320x240 not the 1024 x 728 your monitor is set at. Hope this help you understand your issues. This is also why standard definition small screen looks poorer on a Plasma or LCD tv than on your standard tube tv. Many of the pixels are not filled and the larger eyeshade requires stretching of the standard definition picture.
