I enjoy a Toshiba Satellite, A105, only a few months older. The screen freshly messed up on me. Now it's horribly dark, so that I can't even really see what I'm clicking. I've tried the undamaged FN + brightness trick, and nothing happen. I tried connecting it to my boyfriend's PC moniter, and it made the whole hardware detected beep sound, but his moniter wasn't getting a signal. Can someone facilitate me out here? Even just helping me amount out to connect to his moniter properly so I can work from there would be great.

If it's that new, it's beneath warranty. Get them to fix it. Normally Satellites are pretty good.
I agree, Toshiba's are great w/ displays. I support just about 400 and I have not see one go discouraging in 3+ years.
Call them for warranty repair.
